About me
Renan Leme
Violinist, arranger and composer — and the person who will answer your message, usually within a day.
Welcome
My name is Renan Leme and, although I am a violinist with a formal classical music education, I am a huge appreciator of music of all kinds and love to work with a variety of styles, including classical, popular, folk, jazz, rock and tangos, among others.
Music is one of the greatest loves of my life and I consider myself very fortunate to have it as my profession. Making music is for me both a joy and a responsibility, and I work hard to offer you the best performance and service.
Where I come from
I was born in São Paulo, Brazil — a huge city with more than twelve million inhabitants and almost five hundred years of history — where I started my music education. I later moved to Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of Brazil, to pursue my bachelor's degree in violin performance at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel).
I came to the United States in 2015 to pursue my master's degree at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) under the guidance of Eva Szekely, also in violin performance. It was here in Columbia, Missouri, that I met my wife, Jennifer, and where I am happy to live, teach and be an active musician.
Experience
I have had the opportunity to play in many ensembles and orchestras, including the Mizzou Graduate String Quartet, the Mizzou New Music Ensemble, the Mizzou Improvisation Ensemble and the Mizzou University Philharmonic Orchestra, where I had the honor of serving as section leader and concertmaster. I have also played with the Missouri Symphony and with Camerata Novitango, my former tango quartet, among many others.
Beyond performing
I write and arrange music, and several of my own pieces are published on our YouTube channel. You can hear both my compositions and the arrangements the ensemble plays for events there.
