Welcome!

My name is Renan Leme and, although I am a violinist with a formal classical music education, I am a huge appreciator of music of all kinds and love to work with a variety of styles, including classical, popular, folk, jazz, rock, tangos, among others. Music is one of the greatest loves of my life and I consider myself very fortunate to have it as my profession. Making music is for me both a joy and a responsibility, and I work hard to offer you the best performance and service.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, a huge city with more than twelve million inhabitants and almost five hundred years of history, where I started my music education and lived until I decided to move to Rio Grande do Sul, in the South of Brazil, to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in violin performance at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). I came to the US in 2015 to pursue my Master’s degree at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) under the orientation of Eva Szekely, also in violin performance. Here, in Columbia – MO, was where I met my beautiful wife, Jennifer, and am happy to live, teach, and be an active musician.

I’ve had the opportunity of playing in many ensembles and orchestras such as the Mizzou Graduate String Quartet, Mizzou New Music Ensemble, Mizzou Improvisation Ensemble, Mizzou University Philharmonic Orchestra (where I was honored of experiencing being leader of section and concert-master), Missouri Symphony, Camerata Novitango (my former tango quartet), among many others.

If you would like to know more about my ensemble or myself, please contact me and I would be happy to answer your questions either by email or in person. Thank you for visiting my website, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Renan Leme
